Girls Basketball Closes out 2022 with a Win Over Hamilton Heights

The 12th-ranked West Lafayette girls basketball team completed a rugged stretch of seven games in 17 days with an impressive 38-20 victory over No. 8 Hamilton Heights on Dec. 15 at Berberian Gymnasium. The Red Devils led wire-to-wire to improve to 12-3 heading into the holiday break. Anne Karlaftis was 8-for-8 from the field to score a game-high 16 points. She also had five rebounds and two steals. Sarah Werth had eight points and five assists, while Kennedy Martin added six points, six assists and two steals. The Red Devils shot 68.8% from the field in the second half and finished the game with 15 assists on 16 field goals. They were 5 of 11 from 3-point range while limiting the methodical Huskies to 1 of 15 from beyond the arc and forcing 17 turnovers. The JV battled a physical Huskie team but came up short 37-30. Kyra Swanson led all scorers with nine points and Emma Wiete collected eight rebounds. The Red Devils are back in action January 3 at Frankfort. Photo credit Grace Ascarelli
