In its first game after the extended holiday break – 19 days between games – No. 9 West Lafayette girls basketball won at Frankfort 69-9 on Jan. 3. Eight Red Devils scored, including four in double figures: Adrianne Tolen (18), Kennedy Martin (17), Vivian Huston (11) and Izzy Ascarelli (11 in her first varsity start). Tolen also came up with 11 steals, seven rebounds and four assists, while Martin had six assists and steals, Huston five assists and six steals, and Ascarelli four assists and five steals. Annie Karlaftis pulled down seven rebounds and scored five points. Sara Flesher and Kyra Swanson saw their first varsity playing time of the season. The Red Devils shot 50% from the field (27 of 54), outrebounded the Hotdogs 32-14 and came up with 32 steals. West Lafayette scored the game’s final 52 points.
