West Lafayette Jr-Sr High School

In the first game back of 2023 and last game of the regular season, West Lafayette 8th Grade A Boys narrowly defeated Twin Lakes 8th Grade, 31-27. Cody Boyle hit a late three pointer and Ash Modessit added a free throw to close the game out. Twin Lakes 2-3 zone frustrated the Red Devils throughout the game limiting shot opportunities and transition baskets. Kojo Steffey led the Red Devils in scoring with 12 points all in the first half, and Henry Umulis contributed 9 points with two three pointers. In the second game, Twin Lakes 8th Grade B defeated the Red Devils B, 40-29, but the game was close right up to the very end and tied at the end of the third quarter, 25-25. Joe Doty and Tanner McPherson led the team in scoring with 8 and 7 points, respectively. Jack McCormick in his first game back since mid-November due to a broken hand, added 5 points. Jonah Mitrione scored 3 points and Paxton Mills, Dani Caviglia, and Archer Fry all scored two points. Caleb Yu added 2 assists. The Red Devils enter the WCJC tourney this weekend with a first-round bye and will play Faith Christian in the semifinal round on Saturday.
