Western Boone Rallies Past Covington for First Win of the Season. The Western Boone Stars started Tuesday night a little flat as the Covington Trojans came out firing, taking a 17–7 lead after the first quarter. But the Stars quickly woke up—and they woke up angry. A powerful 15–0 run swung momentum their way as Mickey Burns checked in and immediately made an impact with tough, relentless defense. Emerson Gott battled hard on the boards, pulling down three rebounds in the stretch, while Isabella Grady brought nonstop hustle in transition. The second half was a complete transformation. Western Boone’s diamond-and-one press ignited energy across the gym, and once the Stars found their rhythm, there was no looking back. Ila Stokes came out hot, drilling back-to-back threes, while Jaylee Dickerson attacked the basket with confidence. With the environment flipped and momentum fully on their side, the Stars closed out a decisive 61–33 victory—marking their first win of the season. Emerson Gott led all scorers with 14 points, and Ally Lewis dominated the glass with 7 rebounds. The Stars are back in action this Friday at home for the Sugar Creek Classic against Southmont.
