Offensively the Stars were able to move the ball, but miscues and penalties kept them out of the end zone. The Stars managed to gain yards on the ground behind the blocking of Sophomores Dylan Coverdale, Luke Cummins, Chris Hall and Wes England. Gaining tough earned yards were the combination of Jaydan Williamson, Rolen Shue, Heath Williams and Cole Ramsey. Cooper Ford and Brennen Bivens both chipped in with carries for 1st down on 3 and short situations. Kahne Reid managed two receptions and the lone score for the Stars came on a 4th and 5 play when Brennan Kapriva hit Julian McClane for a 30 yard touchdown. Defensively for the Stars it was a fight till the very end but missed tackles and kickoff return allowed the Blackhawks to escape with the win. The Stars were able to keep the Blackhawks contained for the majority of the game, but the Sheridan offense put together a scoring drive late in the fourth quarter to take the lead. Strong performances by Sophomores Chris Hall and Maverick Kraus allowed the Stars to control the outside while being led in the middle by Junior Cole Ramsey. Early in the game the Blackhawks were threatening to score but Sophomore Jackson Long was able to come up with a big-time interception to get the ball back for the offense. Sophomore Connor Williams made his presence known on the defensive line by making stops in the backfield for the Stars tonight as well. The Junior Varsity Stars will have a chance to bounce back next week as they will host the Western Panthers. The game is scheduled to start at 10:00 am.
