In the A game, Western Boone focused on dominating inside by getting the ball to Wyatt Redman in the lane, exploiting Clinton Prairie’s size. This strategy was effective in the first quarter, with Redman scoring eight points. Clinton Prairie adjusted by collapsing their zone defense into the lane and using physical play to force the Stars to shoot from the perimeter. Spencer Worrel, Corbin Eckert, Bryson Potter, and Blake Stokes capitalized on this, combining for six three-pointers, with Potter and Eckert each hitting two. As Redman faced foul trouble and Clinton Prairie improved their outside shooting, the Stars had to adapt. Their defense slowed Prairie, and they made four of five free throws in the final stretch to secure a 41-35 victory. Scorers: Redman 10, Potter 9, Stokes 7, Eckert 6, Worrel 5, Richardson 2, Kinsler 2 The B game was intense, with the team overcoming a shorter bench. They maintained their fast pace and utilized open corners against the same zone defense as the A team. Chase Buchanan was outstanding, hitting three three-pointers in the first half to energize the Stars’ offense. Chase Young managed the ball well under pressure from the Gopher guards, while Wyatt Delp and Jaxson Gick aggressively rebounded. Delp scored six points, including crucial baskets late in the game. Braxton Hanneman hit a three-pointer and played tough defense, forcing turnovers. Eli Pastore had an exceptional performance, scoring 16 points in the second half despite an ankle injury and lenient officiating. He dominated the boards and overpowered the Gophers. The Stars won with a final score of 42-34. Scorers: Pastore 16, Buchanan 9, Delp 6, Young 6, Hanneman 5 The Stars will conclude their season next Monday when they host North Putnam.
