The Western Boone Stars 8th grade football team dominated rival Lebanon, winning 30-8, on the Tigers home field Tuesday night. The Stars' ability to dictate the line of scrimmage to string together sustaining drives, capped by big plays, was the story of the night offensively. Jack Mallory, Levi Adkins, Carson Nicley all hit on big running plays as the offensive line of Sam Rausch, Mason Foster, Xander Moxley, Wyatt Smith, Mason Amich and Brayden Henson were able to create space for their backs. Nicley was able to complete a couple of passes for solid gains as well, as the offense looks to add balance to their strong running game. Scoring for the Stars were Levi Adkins and Jack Mallory, while Liam Whiteley also secured his first score of the season on a late two-point conversion reception. With the heat, the Stars went deep into the roster and received strong contributions from everyone. Defensively, the Stars were able to severely limit the Tigers rushing attack and make big plays in the secondary, to end Lebanon's best true scoring chances of the night. Dane Allen ended an early drive with an interception while Jackson Bloss had the standout performance of the evening. Giving up some size, the Tigers looked to exploit their match up with him, but chose to challenge him a few too many times. Bloss was able to make multiple tackles, a couple for big losses, and intercept two passes, adding long returns on each. Elsewhere, Sam Rausch, Levi Adkins, Jack Mallory, Josiah Williamson, as well as several others, were able to fly around and make plays as the front three gave them opportunities. Just as was the case with the offense, the defense saw contributions from the depth of the roster. The Western Boone 7th grade football dropped a game on Tuesday night against the Lebanon Tigers. The Stars controlled the possession once again in the first half, but failed to convert. Noah Baird, Colton Mitchell, and Kane Jackson all ran the ball hard offensively. Tyson Riner, Klayton Mikesell, & Lane Rose all had good games defensively. The 7th Grade Stars struggled with the speed on the outside and struggled to stop the Tigers. The 7th Grade Stars travel to Crawfordsville next week to battle the Athenians. The Stars are back in action on Tuesday at Crawfordsville.
