The WeBo Lady Stars soccer team faced a tough match on the road against Cascade, resulting in a 1-0 loss. Despite displaying exceptional control of possession and demonstrating their adeptness at connecting passes, the Stars were unable to secure a victory, falling short as Cascade capitalized on a crucial moment. The lone goal of the match arrived with just 25 minutes remaining in the game, when Cadets managed to convert a rebound from a corner kick into a game-changing score. The Stars fought valiantly in the warm conditions throughout the match and got contributions from a deep line-up. Showcasing their defensive prowess were Rebecca Keyes, Hannah Hayden, Kylee Trent, Clara Stanfield and goalkeeper Cora Somers by holding Cascade at bay for most of the game. However, the pivotal moment from the corner kick proved to be the turning point, leaving the Lady Stars with a bitter taste of defeat. WeBo's offensive efforts were evident as they relentlessly pressed forward, amassing a total of 15 shots, with 10 of those shots directly on target. Their best being a shot by Rebecca Rustin that was tipped by the goalkeeper and caromed off the cross bar. The Stars showed an impressive display of skill and teamwork through the mid-field with contributions from Grace Maners, Cadey Ross, Kale Conner, Lindsey Steimel, and Addie Jones creating numerous scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, luck was not on their side, as they were unable to breach Cascade's defense and secure the much-needed breakthrough. The Lady Stars' record now stands at 0-2 for the season. While the start of the season has been challenging, the improvements in defensive marking and offensive possession were notable. Their next encounter is scheduled for August 24, 2023, where they will have the home advantage as they face off against Tri West.
