Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The Western Boone Lady Stars prevailed with 2 wins and a balanced performances in both the Varsity and Junior Varsity games on Saturday, August 26th, at conference opponent North Montgomery. In the Varsity contest, the Stars maintained possession and built attacks with a series of combination passes to hold the offensive throughout. The first half scoring came from Senior captain Addie Jones within the first 15-minutes, followed by Kale Conner converting from distance over the goalkeeper taking the Stars to a 2-0 lead at the break. Second half production came from Rebecca Rustin who scored back-to-back goals within a 5-minute span, and the Stars completed the 5-0 victory with the first career goal from Junior captain Rebecca Keyes. The Junior Varsity match yielded a similar shutout result with the Stars possessing and attacking...and coming out with the 4-0 win. Sophomore Kylee Trent started the scoring early with a steal and transition shot into the back of the net, and freshman Brenda Calhoun followed it up a few minutes later with her own goal after getting past two Charger defenders to put the Stars up 2-0 going into halftime. Trinity Whelchel handled the second half scoring with a brace, the first one coming off a corner kick service from Hannah Hayden, and the second courtesy of a penalty kick drawn by Sophomore Kirstin McCormick. The Lady Stars moved their record to 1-2 on the season (1-1 in the SAC) and will next host Tri West on Tuesday, 8/29/23, at 6:00pm
