Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The Western Boone cross country team traveled to Southmont Tuesday evening to compete in the Leap Into September Invitational. Isaac Threlkeld came in 9th place out of 47 runners with a time of 20:21, followed by Carter Hanna in 24th place (22:04). Graham Cavins ran a 22:43 (27th), Brawn Puckett ran a 24:30 (37th), and Brayden Schick ran a 24:54 for 39th place. The girls came out in full force with Bailey Haag taking 4th place out of 33 girls (23:17) followed by Samantha Jones in 5th place with a time of 24:10. Benny Parsons was close behind taking 8th place (24:50). Kate Higer ran a strong race taking 12th place (26:12), Carli Hanna ran an impressive race with a time of 29:29 in 23rd place, followed by Janelle Gearheart in 24th place (29:51), Rosie Rogers in 25th place (30:06), and Katherine Mateika in 28th place (32:58). The highlights of the evening were medals given to the top 10 finishers including Isaac Threlkeld, Bailey Haag, Samantha Jones, and Benny Parsons. The girls team finished 2nd overall out of 5 teams. Both teams have been working hard and continue to improve at every meet and will compete again this Thursday at Hamilton Heights in the Landes Invitational.
