The 7th Grade Stars hosted the Bruins from Tri-West last night. The Stars controlled the clock and time of possession and came away with a 16-6 victory. Tyson Riner, Noah Baird, Kane Jackson, Colton Mitchell, and Klayton Mikesell all ran the ball well behind the offensive line of Levi Biggs, Brooklyn Wagner, Rawley Woodrum, Ryder Warmoth, and Beau Sanders. The Defense led by Lane Rose, Cole Hurliman, Ben Pemberton, Wagner, Riner, Owen Young, and a late interception by Jackson sealed the victory. Baird and Jackson scored Touchdowns while Riner threw to Mitchell and Mikesell for the 2 point conversions. The Western Boone Stars 8th grade football team made the best of a night complicated by weather, as they hosted Tri-West last evening. Knowing that they were set to face their toughest challenge of the season, the Stars were forced to adapt last minute as lightning would delay the contest just prior to kickoff. After an hour of anticipation, the Stars would come out hot. Electing to receive, Jack Mallory would return the opening kickoff to the Bruins side of the field. Just four plays later, facing 4th and 4, Carson Nicley would find Levi Adkins open over the middle for a touchdown. Mallory would add the two-point conversion. Defensively, the Stars were determined to limit Tri-West's big play offense and force them to move the ball on long, sustaining drives. The Stars were able to execute that plan but Tri-West was eventually able to find the endzone. However, the conversion failed. Unfortunately, lightning would once again make an appearance just a few minutes later and the game would be called, this time for good, with the Stars still holding an 8-6 lead. The Stars travel to North Montgomery on Tuesday next week to take on the Chargers.
