Tuesday night was a tough loss for Western Boone’s girls varsity soccer team. Lebanon came out with great intensity and fire, and Western Boone couldn’t seem to catch up in intensity or goals against their county rival. "We didn't play well and we didn't compete well," Western Boone head coach Shane Stiemel said. "We are a competitive team that is capable of good things, but only when we play our best soccer. Today wasn't it." Facing many obstacles this season and simple game obstacles like weather delays, the Stars hope to train hard Wednesday in preparation to be the team they know they can be, a team of adversity, on Thursday against Danville at home. "We have to play better in possession," Steimel said. "We are a possession team, we didn't do that well today. We didn't have a good first touch, we didn't have good passes and it was a very forgettable performance from our perspective." Although the varsity game was a loss, the JV squad for Webo showed out after a long weather delay to play about 30 minutes of a match against Lebanon before another weather delay cut the game short. The JV squad captain of the game, River Roy’s, worked extremely hard in the middle and top of the field, along with Trinity Whelchel and Kenzlei Mathews, which resulted in a goal from freshmen Kenzlei to end the game at a 1-1 draw. We appreciate the support from fans that cheer us on to the end of every match, and we hope to see you Thursday against Danville at Webo. Varsity will begin at 5:30pm and JV will follow at 7:00pm.
