Cross Country teams compete in Charger Classic against 14 other schools

The High School Cross Country teams traveled to North Montgomery Thursday to compete in the 53rd annual Charger Classic against 14 other schools. The Stars were fired up in the cool rainy weather against some strong competition. The boys raced first and were led by Isaac Thelkeld finishing 31st with a time of 19:01 with Carter Hanna crossing in 40th at 19:18 and Alex Crockett at 46th with a 19:32 for a personal best time. Graham Cavins finished 53rd in 19:58, Brayden Schick (73rd) in 21:57, Brawn Puckett (84th) in 22:41, Lane Hardee (87th) in 23:01 and Kole Nelson with a personal best (97th) in 25:46. The team finished 9th overall. Samantha Jones led the Lady Stars finishing 14th with a 21:14 followed by Bailey Haag in 19th at 21:42 and Charlotte Stuckey in 20th at 22:06. Benny Parsons finished 24th in 22:40 with Kate Higer in 37th at 23:42, a personal best. Janelle Gearheart came in 54th at 25:26 and Rosie Rogers in 66th at 26:31 for a personal best. Carli Hanna finished 77th with a 28:41 and Katherine Mateika (81st) with a personal best of 29:43. The girls team finished 4th overall. The Stars conquered the Charger course and most athletes raced to their season or personal best times. Highlights of the meet include the top 4 boy runners, Isaac, Carter, Alex, and Graham all breaking 20 minutes and Samantha receiving a ribbon for top 15 girls. The team will travel to Ben Davis Saturday morning to compete in the 59th annual Ben Davis Cross Country Invitational.
