The varsity girls came ready to compete and held their possession play early on in the game against Danville, but the game quickly turned when Danville put a few goals in the net in the first half. The Stars defense got defeated 6-0 when they couldn’t seem to mark every right-footed shot Danville made. Western Boone was outshot by Danville 29 to 2, with Kale Conner having the 2 shots on goal. Bailey Keyes, first year goalkeeper, had over 30 saves in the game and continues to improve her play and knowledge in the goal daily. The JV girls came out with quickness and angst to get numbers on the scoreboard and did just that. They tied Danville’s JV team 3-3 in a full game. Kierra Koch (2) and River Roy’s (1) got the Stars on the board with help from every player on the field offensively and defensively. Every player that stepped on the field during that match competed with clean yet aggressive play, and they were ready to make their opponent work hard to get through to a shot on goal. Each week coaches see improvement both with individual players and team-wide from both squads. They will continue to work on the improvements needed to finish well and score goals, in hopes to compete well next week for their 3-game week. The Stars take on Covington at home on Monday (9/11), Rossville away on Tuesday (9/12), and Decatur away on Thursday (9/14)
