Stars take on strong Covington squad in boys tennis

The Western Boone boys tennis team welcomed the 2021 state quarterfinalist Covington Trojans to WeBo courts for a nonconference match-up Thursday night. The Stars were looking to improve their record to 2-0 on the season, but the Trojans had other plans. The Stars dropped the match 1-4 with the 2D team of Tyler Konz and Jon Rutherford coming away with the only win for the hosts. 1S Gavin Hawkins played well on the night, taking Evan Norton to a super tiebreaker before dropping the match 5-10. The Stars have the weekend off before they face their first conference opponent on Tuesday when they host the Southmont Mounties.
