The Western Boone Junior High Cross Country team traveled to Lebanon to compete in their last meet of the regular season. The boys team took the top three spots led by Aiden Lester with a time of 11:18 followed by Ari Smith in 12:57 and in third was Brentton Palmer with a season best of 13:50. Rex Stanley finished 6th in 16:05 with Hayden Trenary finishing 8th in 17:15. The boys team came in first overall with Lebanon second and Clinton Central third. The girls also posted the top two finishers led by Joan Gearheart in at 13:13 and Lyla Kinsler with a 14:56. Claire Torp finished 6th in 16:32, Bristol McCord was 8th in 16:47, Jaili Torp was 13th in 18:06 and Autumn Palmer finished 14th in 18:17. The girls team beat Lebanon by one point with Clinton Central finishing third. A good Cross Country course is designed to disrupt a runner's momentum with sharp turns, different terrain and rolling hills. This course checked all those boxes and provided a tough challenge for this young team but they all stepped up and pushed themselves across the line finishing a great season and showing that they are ready for their Conference meet next Thursday.
