The girl’s soccer team celebrated 8th grade night last night. For this game, they were defeated by Tecumseh. Our girls played a very strong first half as a unit. They came out ready to play. Without a sub, our girls became tired in the second half and gave up some goals. Cheyenne Gibson drew a penalty and was able to shoot a penalty kick, but it was saved by the keeper. After the game each 8th grade player was recognized in front of their parents and fans. The WeBo junior high boys soccer team was defeated by Crawfordsville last night by a score of 6-1. The Athenians scored 4 in the first half. After that, Western Boone's defense did a nice job of containing and was able to play the second half at a 2-1 score. WeBo's only goal came when Deegan Henry was fouled in the box and Benson DeVol scored the penalty kick. Goalie duties were shared by Ben Twitty, Andres Morales, and Timothy Walker. The 8th graders were honored before the game. They are Nolan Caldwell, Braylen DeVol, Benson DeVol, Deegan Henry, Andres Morales, Aiden Thies, Alex Thompson and Ben Twitty. These 8th graders have demonstrated leadership and hard work this season. The stars will play their final home game of the season next Thursday when they face Tecumseh.
