The Western Boone Junior High cross country team returned to Terre Haute Saturday morning to bring their season full circle at the LaVern Gibson cross country course from where they had their first meet. With 462 runners in the Girls Small School Varsity race, Joan Gearheart finished with a near best time of 11:51 for 32nd place. Lyla Kinsel was next to cross the line with a time of 14:08 (314th), followed by Claire Torp in 14:24, (347th), Bristol McCord in 15:21 (417th), Jaili Torp in 15:37 (433rd), and Autumn Palmer in 16:07 (456th). The boys were up next and Aiden Lester led the Stars to finish in 10:42 for 47th place out of 533 runners. Ari Smith achieved a personal best time of 11:44 for 199th place. Brentton Palmer ran a 13:54, his second best time this season followed by Rex Stanley (14:33) and Hayden Trenory (15:50) who also were very close to their personal best times. With Conference and State only two days apart this was an extreme challenge for this team and as always they stepped up and left everything they had on the course. All runners were either at or within striking distance of their personal best times for both meets. These athletes ran as individuals but they worked as a team and finished as a family. Amazing job this season!
