Cross Country Teams compete with conference competitors at Danville

The Western Boone cross country team traveled to Danville Saturday morning for an exciting race against local competitors in the Sagamore Conference. Isaac Threlkeld led the Stars in the boys race and ran a season best time of 18:42 for 23rd place, making Second Team All-Conference. Alex Crockett ran a strong race finishing with a personal best time of 19:02 for 28th place. Carter Hanna finished his cross country career with a time of 19:24 (31st), followed by Graham Cavins in 40th (20:30). Brawn Puckett finished with a personal best time of 21:06, and Brayden Schick (21:45) and Lane Hardee (22:45) both finished strong for the Stars. Kole Nelson rocked the JV race for a personal best time of 23:42. The girls were up next to compete fiercely in the heat of the day. Bailey Haag lit up the course to lead the Lady Stars for 6th place with a time of 21:37, followed by Charlotte Stucky for 10th place (22:18), and Samantha Jones in 12th (22:22). Bailey, Charlotte and Sam all received ribbons and made First Team All-Conference. Benny Parsons was next to finish in 22:43 for 14th place, followed by Kate Higer who achieved yet another personal best time of 22:59 for 16th place. Parsons and Higer also received ribbons and made Second Team All-Conference. Janelle Gearheart finished in 25:56 for 35th place, followed by Rosie Rogers in 26:55 for 38th place. Carli Hanna persevered to finish her season with a time of 30:23. The girls team finished in second place overall out of 8 total teams. The Stars will compete again in a few weeks at the IHSAA Sectional Meet at North Central High School.
