The Western Boone 8th grade football team capped off an undefeated season with a thrilling 14-12 victory over conference foe, Danville, on Monday evening. With only 3:53 remaining in the contest, following a long touchdown run by the Warriors, the Stars found themselves trailing in a game for the first time all season. Micah Farris would then make his second key defensive stop against Danville's conversion attempts, deflecting the pass away, just as he did on their first try. Now trailing 12-6, the Stars offense would stay composed and put together a game winning drive, hitting on key runs by Jack Mallory, Levi Adkins and a composed Carson Nicley who would save a broken play to keep the drive on track. After Mallory found the endzone (2 TDs) with 1:13 remaining, to tie the game, the Stars would convert the go ahead two-point conversion when Mallory found Adkins in the endzone on a designed full back pass, giving the Stars the lead, 14-12. Brayden Henson would then step up and deliver his best kick off of the season, along with great coverage, pinning the Warriors deep with little time remaining. The Stars defense would need just one play to seal the victory as Nicley would intercept a pass on the first play of the drive. Throughout the night, the Stars would patiently and stubbornly move the ball behind the offensive line of Sam Rausch, Xander Moxley, Maddox Amich, Wyatt Smith, Mason Foster, Brayden Henson, Masyn Hoskins along with contributions from Layne Bull and Dane Allen blocking from the wing positions. That same group, along with the linebacking corps and secondary, would suffocate the Warriors ground game for most of the night. With the victory, the Stars finish their season officially 7-0, and lead one other contest 8-6 when the game was called due to lightning. The Stars were able to adapt, improve and receive important contributions from everyone on the roster throughout the season. The 7th Grade Stars completed their season last night as they welcomed the Danville Warriors to Dover. The Stars struggled to move the ball against the Warriors and turned the ball over twice and Danville capitalized. The Stars were led offensively by Noah Baird and Tyson Riner both getting tough yards for the Stars. The Defense was led by Riner and a Klayton Mikesell interception. . The 7th Grade Stars made vast improvements from Game 1 to Game 7. The Stars finish the season at 3-4.
