Western Boone Jr. - Sr. High School

The Western Boone Stars 8th Grade Boys Basketball team opened their season at home against the Southmont Mounties. The A Team started slow but found their rhythm by creating turnovers and ended the first half with a lead. The second half was a more physical half and the Stars got into foul trouble, but subs came in and were able to hold the Mounties and ended the game with a 40-38 win to open the season. The Stars were led by Beau Sawyer and Sam Rausch with 13, Carson Nicely with 7, Josiah Williamson 3, Dane Allen, and Carter Eckert 2. The B Team also played the Mounties, and it was a one-sided win 39-12 for Stars. Destin Mercado and Brayden Henson led Stars with 14 each, Noah Cole 5, Micah Farris 4 and Masyn Hoskins 2. Stars play the Lebanon Tigers on Monday November 6th at Home. The 7th grade Stars were anxious to get the season underway, but not happy with the first outcome. The team lost a close battle with South Montgomery 24-25 on a last second bucket. They WeBo Defense played great to keep the team ahead most of the game led by Owen Young's 7 steals and Tim Boddickers 4 steals. The team had 12 steals in total and will look to build on the positive defensive performance moving forward.
