The Western Boone high school cross country team traveled to the Tippecanoe Amphitheater in West Lafayette on Tuesday evening for the Harrison 9-Way Meet.

Haag sisters Hannah and Bailey led the way for the Lady Stars, finishing in 15th (21:44) and 23rd (22:37), respectively. Samantha Jones finished only a few seconds later in 25th in 22:48. Charlotte Stucky ran a personal best of 24:05 to finish 42nd. Emily Parsons rounded out the scoring team in 65th in 25:27. Both Haag sisters, Jones, and Parsons were all more than two minutes faster than their times on this course last year. Several runners achieved personal bests: Janelle Gearheart - 26:58 in 80th, Kate Higer - 27:31 in 86th, Bailey Keyes - 27:54 in 88th, Cara Hanna - 30:23 in 102nd, and Rosie Rogers - 30:29 in 103rd. Carli Hanna ran strongly to finish in 30:39 (104th), which was nearly a minute faster than her time last year on this course. Katherine Mateika was 111th in 37:43. As a team, the Lady Stars finished 6th with 140 points. West Lafayette won with 50 points. In the boys race, Isaac Threlkeld led the way for the Stars, achieving a personal best time of 19:44 to finish 49th. Carter Hanna ran strongly to finish 61st in 20:11, followed a few seconds later by Lane Hardee in 64th in 20:27, followed again a few seconds later by Graham Cavins in 66th in 20:37. Hardee and Cavins were both more than a minute faster than their times on this course last year. Levi LaGrange completed the scoring team in 84th in 21:48. Also running for the Stars were Alex Crockett (109th in 23:23), Brayden Schick (114th in a personal best of 23:41), and Xander Rouse (131st in 26:26). The Stars' boys team was 8th with 220 points. West Lafayette won with 39 points. The Stars' next race is Saturday morning at the Danville Hokum Karem.
