Stars split with Athenians in JH Basketball

Both 7th grade basketball teams played with energy and tenacity to come out with 2 wins against Crawfordsville. Game 1 - The defense led the way with 18 steals and offense came off press and transition to chip in 14 assists in the balanced attack. Game 1 Western Boone 41-28 win Game leaders Gage Wilson 10 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals, 2 assists Tim Boddicker 8 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 assists Owen Young 9 points, 4 rebounds, 6 steals, 3 assists Kane Jackson 9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 assists Game 2 - The defense was solid and offense came with transition points and good passing. The team dominated on the boards all game and Caleb Keyes earned the player of the game recognition! Western Boone 31- 25 win. Game leaders Caleb Keyes 10 points, 17 rebounds, 1 steal, 4 assists Rowan Eastwood 8 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists Anthony Snoke 1 point, 12 rebounds, 6 steals, 2 assists Carson Richardson 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 assists The 8th grade Stars travelled to Crawfordsville to play the Athenians. Tonight's contests turned out to be a physical one and the shorthanded Stars held their own. The Stars were able to get a lead and held it late into the 4th quarter. The Athenians forced back-to-back turnovers and converted along a couple trips to free throw line take the lead. The Stars hit a 3 pointer in the closing seconds, but the clock ran out and the Stars fell 42-41. Beau Sawyer led the Stars with 18, Dane Allen 11, Josiah Williamson 8, Sam Rausch 2, Brayden Henson 2. The B Team was also in action and able to control the game from start to finish and ended up with a 21-10 victory. Micah Farris led the stars with 11, Destin Caraballo 8 and Brayden Henson 2. The Stars will Travel to Frankfort next week to play the Hotdogs.
