The Lady Stars took on the Covington Trojans on Tuesday night, coming away with a hard-fought 44-43 win. The Stars started out slow, struggling to hit lay-ups and defend Covington's fast-paced offense. As the second quarter progressed, the Lady Stars picked up the intensity on both ends of the court, getting good looks at the basket and slowing Covington down offensively. The Stars came out of halftime down only one point, but couldn't keep the momentum going, ending the third quarter down by 5. The Lady Stars didn't quit going into the fourth quarter, hitting some big shots and free throws, and playing solid defense to end up with the victory. It was a great team win as many players stepped up and contributed in various ways throughout the game. The Stars were led in scoring by Ally Lewis with 15 points, followed by Ila Stokes with 11 points. The Lady Stars are back in action this Thursday in the first round of the Sugar Creek Classic as they take on Southmont at 6pm. Go Stars!
