WeBo swimmers battle conference foes

The Star swim teams traveled to Tri-West Thursday night for a 3-way meet with North Montgomery. The girls beat the Bruins 104-58, but fell to the Chargers 89-83. The medley relay team of Jenna Twitty, Micah Hole, Hannah Hayden, and Kaitlyn Crowley kicked off the meet with a second-place finish. Samantha Jones followed up with a win for the Stars in the 200 freestyle, followed by Crowley in third place. Arianna Stieber kept the momentum going with a win in the 200 IM, with Twitty following in fourth place. Adelaide Jones kept the streak through the 50 freestyle with another win for the Stars; Adalyn Sartin also placed fifth. Hayden and Twitty finished second and third respectively in a close 100 fly race. A. Jones picked up another win in the 100 freestyle; S. Jones narrowly missed second place to finish third. Crowley and Rustin placed third and fifth in the 500 freestyle. The 200 freestyle relay team of Stieber, S. Jones, Hayden, and A. Jones earned sthe Stars another win; this same relay team later finished the meet with another first-place finish. A. Stieber earned a second individual win in the 100 backstroke; Mickschl finished fifth. Hole placed second in 100 breaststroke, followed by Lily Talbott in sixth place. The boys fell to the Bruins 100-68, but topped the Chargers 100-64. The medley relay team of Jacob Norman, Jude Balke, Isaac Threlkeld, and Chase Collier kicked off the meet for the boys with a Stars win. Norman and Collier followed with second and third place finishes respectively in the 200 freestyle. In the 200 IM, Balke placed third, followed by Malachi Catterson in fifth. Threlkeld finished second in the 50 freestyle; Isaac Garringer also placed sixth. Xander Rouse earned second in a close diving competition. In the 100 butterfly, Threlkeld earned another second place, followed by Catterson in fifth. Sam Hillger and Artie Milliser placed fourth and fifth in the 100 freestyle respectively. Wyatt Barnett and Henry Biggs finished in third and fifth in the 500 freestyle. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of W. Barnett, Balke, Catterson, and Ethan Barnett finished fourth. Norman and E. Barnett finished second and third in the 100 backstroke. Balke earned second in a close 100 breaststroke race, followed by Alex Crockett in fifth. Ending the meet with a second-place finish was the 400 freestyle relay team of Collier, W. Barnett, Norman, and Threlkeld.
