Levi Adkins took the opening Kickoff to the house and the 7th grade Stars raced out to a 42-0 Halftime lead and didn’t look back as they defeated the Athenians 42-16. The Stars Defense forced multiple turnovers in the first half that led to short fields for the offense. Carson Nicley, Noah Cole, Levi Adkins, Josiah Williamson all found the endzone for the Stars. All 29 players saw action during the game for the Stars. The Stars are back in action next Tuesday as they travel to Lizton to battle the Tri-West Bruins. Kickoff is set for 5:30. The Western Boone 8th grade Stars fell to the Crawfordsville Athenians Tuesday night by a score of 28-8. After falling behind early, 6-0 (failed conversion), the Stars responded on the first play of the second quarter when Quinn Westerfeld avoided pressure and connected with Alex Velazquez for a 13 yard touchdown pass. Westerfeld was then able to rush in the conversion to give the Stars an 8-6 lead. Unfortunately, the lead was short lived as the Athenians would return the ensuing kick off for a touchdown and establish a lead they would hold for the remainder of the evening. Though the Stars were able to keep it a one score game until late, miscues and missed opportunities on offense eventually put too much stress on the defense and the Athenians were able to capitalize. Falling behind two scores, the Stars were forced to try to open up the offense and Crawfordsville was able to take advantage of a late mistake, adding a defensive score and pulling away in the final minutes. Brennen Bivens, Quinn Westerfeld and Reece Young stood out with their determined effort for the Stars throughout the night. The Stars will look to rebound next week against conference foe Tri West.
