The 7th Grade girls fought for their first victory on Thursday night vs. the Lebanon Tigers coming out on top with a 42-25 win! The Lady Stars set the tone from the tip with their defensive intensity and aggressiveness. They opened the game in the first quarter with a 12-2 run, turning their defense into offensive and creating fast break opportunities. The Stars were led in scoring by Caydence Paris who started off hot and finished with a game high 21, going 6-6 from the stripe. Jerzie Nelson came up big in her first start of the season against her old Tiger classmates and contributed 8 points of her own and did a great job of handling the ball. Lyla Kinsler and Aubree Anderson added 7 & 6 points of their own, while controlling the defensive boards in the paint along with Brooklyn Wagner. The 8th Grade girls team ran into a tough Lebanon Tigers group on Thursday night and lost 6-54. The Lady Stars did what they could but came into the game short-handed due to injuries and depleted roster. The girls gave their all, but were overwhelmed by a hot shooting Lebanon squad. The Stars were lead in scoring by Elle McLaughlin with 5, and Vivyan Haltom with 1. The 7th and 8th grade girls are back in action on Monday, 1/22/24, at home vs. Clinton Prairie at 6pm.
