The 7th grade Lady Stars volleyball team was in action last night against the Zionsville Middle School. The Eagles jumped out to an early lead on some tough serving and were able to beat the Stars in two sets, 13-25, 15-25. After a slow start in both sets, the Stars were able to hang with the Eagles point for point on many long rallies with some tough defense by Ella Gott and Seraya Baker. After the match, Coach Ransom was encouraged by the teams inprovements. “ Our slow starts hurt us tonight, but when we settled down, we were able to play some good volleyball. It’s great to see improvements from game to game. Our hope is to continue to get better this week when we travel to Tri-West on Thursday and then make a run this weekend and try to win the Western Boone invitational on Saturday.” The 8th grade volleyball team played Zionsville last night. It was a much improved effort by the team, but we still came up short losing 10-25 both times. Tori Huss had some impressive touches at the net. Also, Jade Strong stepped up last night and had great saves and serves. Altogether, I was very proud of the girls for never quitting on the ball and playing every point with intensity. We have our first away match on Thursday against Tri-West. 7th grade starts at 5:30 and 8th grade will follow.
