The Western Boone boys tennis team traveled to Cicero Wednesday evening to take on the Hamilton Heights Huskies. The Stars got off to a quick start with Jon Rutherford winning at 3S in straight sets. The Stars lost the second point of the match when Blake Maurath, who subbed for 1S Gavin Hawkins, fell in his match 5-7, 0–6. Great effort by Blake in subbing at short notice. The 1D tandem of Garrett Prickett and Daniel Talbott dropped their match in straight sets to make it 1-2, but Brady Warmoth battled back after losing the first set to win his match in three sets. The final point of the match came down to 2D where Tyler Konz and Andrew Petro have been clutch all year. The junior duo fell just short on the evening losing their match in a tightly contested three sets. The Stars’ JV continued their winning ways with a 2-1 win over the Huskies. Winning for the Stars were the doubles tandem of Ethan and Wyatt Barnett and the duo of Eli Mitchell and Sam Rice. Keep up the great work boys!
