The Western Boone Lady Stars varsity soccer team struggled to find a groove on the Danville Warriors turf field Thursday night for their 5th conference match-up of the season. The team didn’t adjust to the speed of play on the turf as they had hoped to, and this struggle directly affected their style of play and teamwork on the field throughout the entire game. There were a few great opportunities during the game for the Lady Stars, one of which happened in the first minute of the game as KaLeigh Steimel (senior) took a shot on the goal. A couple other opportunities consisted of some corner kicks and a strong crossbar shot on goal. But, the Stars just couldn’t finish through and find the back of the net. Our JV team defeated the Warriors 1-0 with a goal by Kale Conner (sophomore), assisted by Veronica Pope (junior). The JV team was connecting passes and really played a great game of soccer. The Stars are looking forward to some key conference match ups at the end of the season and the non-conference games before those. They take on Covington on Monday and Rossville on Tuesday. Both of these games are away.
