Varsity Softball picks up 12-2 win over Tigers; JH softball defeats Sheridan

4/16 vs Lebanon The Western Boone Lady Stars softball team took the field last night to host Lebanon Tigers. The Stars offense got rolling in the second and never looked back cruising to a 5 inning run rule victory over county and conference rival by the score of 12-2. Gabby Lewis was dominant from the start allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits while striking out 5. The Stars were lead at the plate by Kenzlei Mathews going 3 for 3, while Emma Shirley, Ally Lewis, Gabby Lewis, Morganne Grant and Dottie Wilson added 2 hits of their own. Wilson’s two out 3 RBI double in the bottom of the 4th sealed the run rule victory. The Stars travel to Lebanon tomorrow to try and sweep the season series with a 5:30pm start. The Jr. High Lady Stars softball team wins two against Sheridan In the A game, the Lady Stars came out with a 13-4 victory on Tuesday night facing a solid Sheridan group. The game was much closer than the final score, as the Stars entered the top of the 5th inning trailing by a run. The Stars offense came to life in the top of the 5th, putting up 10 runs coming back to secure the win. Raina Lutz picked up the win in the circle for the team with another solid performance striking out 12, giving up just three hits and two walks with one earned run. Offensively for the Stars Raina Lutz had three hits with four RBI’s, Mady Monks, Harper Nance, Lexi Gregg, Lexi Mitchell and Cora Reagan had a hit each. The team is now 2-1 on the season. In the B game, the team picked up its first win of the year with a 16-8 victory. Kensley Blankenship and Caydence Paris picked up the win in the circle giving up 4 earned runs on 4 hits, striking out 6 between them. The team was led offensively by Abby Detty and Hadlie Horn with two hits each. Aleena Beck, Jerzie Nelson, Leigha Anderson and Riley Gunn all chipped in with a hit each keeping the runners moving around the bases. The team is now 1-2 on the season.
