The Lady Stars recovered from their hard fought game against Covington on Monday and came ready to play on Tuesday against the Rossville Hornets. Just seconds into the first half, Western Boone had a beautiful shot on goal by sophomore Kale Conner who then quickly got the ball to the back of the net within seconds of her shot on goal. The Stars really set the pace of the game with great intensity and focus from the very beginning. The Lady Stars had a total of 43 shots on goal, outshooting the Rossville Hornets by 40 shots. Many players had a handful of shots on goal, including senior Emily Conyer, who has really gotten involved in the center of the field this season. Senior KaLeigh Steimel had nearly 20 shots on goal during the game and sent in a countless number of crosses into the box. The girls really stepped it up and challenged the ball, holding it mostly on their scoring half of the field, which led them to their 6-0 victory. Goal scorers were as follows: Kale Conner (sophomore, #11), 1 KaLeigh Steimel (senior, #12), 3 Carlie Pennington (senior, #20), 1 Rebecca Rustin (freshman, #3), 1 Assists by: KaLeigh Steimel (senior, #12) Addie Jones (junior, #6) Ellie Whiteley (freshman, #21) Many young players really showed out and played hard on the field for some varisty playing time, including freshmen players River Roy’s, Cora Somers, Clara Stanfield, and Adreyan Welch. Coaches love when they can watch their team succeed and play hard, rather it be a shutout game or not. But this game, as many of the girls stated afterwards, was “very much needed” for the team as a whole. They are glad to finally turn things around and plan to keep this streak going. The Lady Stars spend the rest of the week recovering and practicing hard to take on North Putnam on Tuesday, September 20 @ Webo at 5:30. Come support!
