7th grade The Stars came out strong in the first set winning 25-18 but dropped the second set 18-25. However, the Stars fought hard and won the third set 15-5. After the game Coach Kiger said, “After losing the second set, the girls were determined to win the third. Everyone played their role well and worked together. I can see so much improvement from this team since the beginning of the season and it makes me excited for the rest of our games.” Some highlights from 7th grade: Addi Lee had a great serving game, having a total of 15 combined points off of her serve. Kaelynn Grant also had a good game at the net with many good blocks and kills. 8th grade: For the 8th grade volleyball team, last night looked a little different than any other game this season. The Stars came out strong in the first set, but nearly escaped with a 25-24 win. In the second set, the Stars had momentum which led to a 25-15 win in two over Clinton Prairie. After the game Coach Kiger was very encouraged by her team’s performance. “This is our first win of the season, and I could tell everyone on the court wanted it. The girls worked well together and made some great plays. My hope is that they carry this feeling of winning into our next games.” Some highlights on the 8th grade side: Sage Ward had a very good game with numerous kills and 2 blocks. Tori Huss also had a nice game with 2 blocks and smart placing kills. The Stars are back at home Thursday against Speedway. 7th grade is at 5:30 and 8th grade at 6:30.
