CC Teams competed in the Flashrock Invitational in Carmel

The Western Boone high school cross country team competed at the Athletic Annex Flashrock Invitational at Northview Church in Carmel on Saturday. The Western Boone girls competed in the Championship race, which featured many of the state's top-25 ranked teams. Hannah Haag ran an incredibly strong race and achieved a personal best time by nearly 43 seconds, finishing in 20:22.37 in 51st. Her time moves her to #5 on the school's all-time list. Katheryn Rutherford was next for the team in 97th in 21:27.30. Samantha Jones finished in 152nd in a season-best 22:44.58, Charlotte Stucky in 163rd in 23:11.83, and Bailey Haag in 175th in 23:37.74 to round out the scoring team. Emily Parsons was 187th in 24:50.06, followed a few seconds later by Janelle Gearheart who achieved a personal best time of 24:56.28 to finish 189th. Kate Higer also earned a personal best of 25:31.58, an improvement of more than a minute, to finish 192nd. Rosie Rogers and Bailey Keyes both achieved personal bests as well, finishing 197th in 27:01.07 and 198th in 27:05.69, respectively. Carli Hanna was 204th in 29:40.41, and Katherine Mateika was 205th in a season-best 32:49.63. Noblesville won the girls' team competition with 68 points, followed by Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern. The Lady Stars were 17th with 482 points among many of the state's best teams. The Western Boone boys competed in the Invitational race. Isaac Threlkeld led the way for the team with a 77th-place finish in 19:18.27. Lane Hardee ran a season-best 19:50.32 to finish 96th. Luke LaGrange also ran well to finish in 20:29.50 in 111th. Carter Hanna was 132nd in 21:12.73, followed by Graham Cavins in 141st in 21:41.36. Brayden Schick earned the team's only personal best on the boys' side, running 22:07.57 to finish 148th. Alex Crockett was 150th in 22:11.97. Brawn Puckett ran a season-best 22:40.52 to finish 157th. Levi LaGrange was 167th in 23:41.19. Jude Balke was 184th in 27:16.33, followed by Xander Rouse in 185th in 27:26.36. Labanon won the team competition with 108 points; Western Boone was 19th with 476 points. The Stars' next meet will be the Sagamore Conference Championships on October 1 at Southmont.
