Western Boone’s Varsity Baseball team honored their Seniors Monday night and came away with an 8-1 victory over Southmont. The evening began with the senior players playing catch with their dads to get warmed up, followed by the announcing of the senior players and their parents. Once the seniors had been recognized the team locked in and went to work. Freshmen Quinn Westerfeld pitched a complete game and allowed just one run on three hits. Senior catcher Cole Wiley called a terrific game and helped guide the young pitcher and keep the Mounties on their toes. Offensively the seniors lead as well - Hunter Brose, Bryce Kopriva, and Carter Marcum all recorded hits in the game. Crew Hunter reached base twice after solid at bats which resulted in him being walked. Luke Jackson was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate which included two doubles and three RBIs. Jackson Grimes went 3 for 4 at the plate and capped off his Senior Night with a home-run to dead center field! This group of seniors has had a terrific four years and their coaches could not be more proud or thankful for their efforts. The Stars will travel to Southmont on Tuesday for the second game of the conference series.
