The WeBo Girl’s Soccer team kicked off the 2024 season on Monday hosting the Cascade Cadets in a varsity match that ended in a 1-1 draw. The defense, which was anchored by senior captains Becca Keyes and Micah Hole, as well returning Junior goalkeeper Cora Somers conceded just 1 goal on 13 shots. The loan goal coming from a long distance shot at the 20’ mark of the 1st half. Offensively, the Stars controlled most of the possession throughout the game thanks to quality passing from midfielders Lindsey Steimel (captain), Grace Maners, Ellie Whiteley and Makenna Harrison. In total, the Stars tallied 17 shots, 16 free kicks and 3 corner kicks. WeBo’s goal came in the 55’ after River Roys made an aggressive run toward goal and was taken down by a Cadet defender from behind – ultimately resulting in successful penalty kick by Steimel. The Stars next play on Thursday, 8/22/24, at Southmont as they open their conference season.
