The 7th Grade Stars traveled to Danville Monday Night to battle the Warriors. Carson Nicley, Levi Adkins, Maddex Amich, Sam Rausch tried to slow down the Warrior Rushing attack. Nicley ended up with 2 interceptions on the night. Offensively the Stars struggled to run the ball against the Warrior front, but it opened the passing game. Nicley hit Josiah Williamson for 3 touchdown passes and Mason Foster for a 2 point conversion. Adkins and Noah Cole also added 2 point conversions but it wasn’t enough as the Stars fell to the Warriors by a final score of 28-24. The 7th Grade Stars finish the season with a 6-2 record. The Western Boone 8th Grade football team wrapped up their season last evening with a 36-0 loss at Danville. Once again facing adversity with a roster of 12 (and losing another early in the game to injury), the Stars acknowledged the reality of the tough task of facing a much bigger, faster and deeper team but set a goal to make their opponent have to compete and earn any success. For the most part, the Stars were able to embrace that challenge and meet that goal. The defense, especially, gave great effort and found themselves in position several times but just unable to complete the play. Offensively, the Stars would find limited success running the ball and the inability to put together enough successive plays to move the chains and keep the offense of the field. Brennen Bivens (both receiving and rushing) carried the ball with a purpose, as he has done all season. Quinn Westerfeld did his best to get the Stars into the right plays. Defensively, Evan Kiplinger lead the way while several other Stars contributed. The 8th Grade Stars conclude a season that often felt snake bitten by injuries and bad breaks, but also successful in terms of individual and team improvements, learning to adjust to tough situations, stepping up to fill a needed role and just continuing to fight and persevere in the face of misfortune.
