Cross Country team battles heat in Jeremy Wright Memorial Small School Invitational

The Webo Cross Country team competed at the Jeremy Wright Memorial Small School Invitational in Shelbyville Saturday. There were 141 girls in the competition. Charlotte Stucky came in 14th place with a time of 23:21, followed by Joan Gearheart in 25th in 24:15. Kate Higer came in 43rd (25:08) and Janelle Gearheart was in 70th place (27:20). Claire Torp shaved over a minute off of her previous racing time to come in 75th (27:33), followed by Rosie Rogers (29:36), Adalyn Sartin (no time given), Jenna Twitty (31:37), and Jaili Torp (31:38). The girls finished in 4th place as a team out of 15 total teams. The boys raced next in the heat of the day, competing against 243 other athletes. Edoardo Carapia fought hard to come in 11th place with a time of 18:26, Aiden Lester shaved 30 seconds off his previous racing time to capture 26th with a time of 19 minutes flat. Alex Crockett was 62nd (20:11), followed by Eli Bishop (23:52), Brawn Puckett (24:16.18), Brayden Schick (24:16.60), and Kole Nelson (26:57). Brentton Palmer cut a minute off of his previous racing time and came in at 27:53. The boys finished in 15th place as a team out of 27 total teams. The Stars will travel to Danville next weekend to compete in the Hokum Karem.
