The WeBo Girl's Soccer team closed the book on an excellent season Thursday night as they were defeated 4-0 in the sectional semifinals by the host Danville Warriors. The Stars weren't able to repeat their run this year to the sectional finals, but they did finish the season 8-5-1 and 4-3 within the SAC conference (tied for 3rd place). WeBo entered the tournament having only allowed 2 goals in the last 5 games, a stretch in which they had gone 4-0-1, but they gave up two uncharacteristic early goals in this contest. The first when Danville deflected a WeBo ball trying to be cleared, which was converted to an open net, and the second was from a WeBo own goal deflected in during a Danville corner kick. Although the Stars went into halftime down 3-0, they were well supported by their fans and maintained great effort and intensity throughout the entire 80-minutes of play. The Stars saw significant development from several underclassmen throughout the year and will be counting on them to step up even more next season as the program will graduate 5 key seniors: Carlie Pennington, Emily Conyer, and captains Lili Jones, Aizlinn Baxter and KaLeigh Steimel. Thanks to all who supported the WeBo Girl's Soccer program throughout the year!
