Stars finish 3rd as they Leap into September

The Western Boone cross country team traveled to Southmont Tuesday evening to run in the Leap Into September Invitational. The girls competed first and they came out fast on a course that is full of tough obstacles and steep hills. Charlotte Stucky was first to cross the finish line for the Stars to snag 4th place (22:33), followed by Joan Gearheart who captured 7th place with a time of 23:19 and a new personal record. Kate Higer came in at 20th place (25:27), followed by Janelle Gearheart in 24th (26:16), Rosie Rogers in 39th (29:37), Claire Torp in 41st (30:30), Jenna Twitty in 43rd (31:10) with a new personal best, Adalyn Sartin in 45th (31:41), Harmony Gilbrech in 46th (32:11), Jaili Torp in 50th (33:06), Katrina Brewer in 51st (34:42), and Autumn Palmer in 52nd (35:54). The girls finished in 3rd place as a team overall out of 6 total teams. The boys were up next with Edoardo Carapia leading the pack and crossing the line first for the Stars in 8th place with a time of 18:36. Aiden Lester was next across the finish line in 12th place (19:12), followed by Alex Crockett in 20th place (20:03) with a season best, Brayden Schick in 44th (22:36), Brawn Puckett in 46th (23:03), Eli Bishop in 50th (23:45), Kole Nelson in 58th (26:22), and Brentton Palmer in 60th (28:45). The boys finished in 5th place as a team. The Stars will compete again this Thursday at the Landes Invitational at Hamilton Heights.
