The Junior High Cross Country teams travelled to Terre Haute for the State Preview Race on Saturday. With cooler weather and a great course this young team showed up to compete. The girls ran first with Abigayle Humphrey leading the Stars across the finish line in 34th place with a new personal best time of 13:48. Britney Richwine dropped over four minutes off her last race finishing 49th with a 14:49 and Alisha Manning is always getting faster with a 16:57. Bristol McCord ran faster at this race from last year with a 17:23. In the boys race it was Ari Smith crossing in 23rd place with a new best time of 11:32 followed by Owen Young shaving off over a minute from his best in 39th place and a 12:19. 6th graders, Wyatt Delp and Nate Muir, ran phenomenal races finishing in 13:15 and 13:58 respectively. Hayden Trenary raced for a new lifetime best of 14:59 and Jacob Nance took off almost four minutes with a 16:27. Ari Smith, Owen Young and Abigayle Humphrey have all met the State Individual Time Standards to qualify for the State Finals as Varsity runners and the boys are very close to the team time standard. Both teams will travel to Speedway on Tuesday for their next competition.
