The 7th grade Stars travelled to Lizton on Tuesday evening and battled the Bruins of Tri-West. Despite struggling to put the ball in the endzone with several miscues and missed opportunities the Stars were victorious 12-0. The Defense of Connor Palmer, Caleb Douglas, Sawyer Lyles, Hayden Demaree, Tate Fields, Lukas Harrison, Weston Richardson, Drake Wagner, Crew Gallimore, Jackson Potter, Tate Wood, and Blake Warmoth completely shut down the Bruins offensive attack. The Stars offense was led by Harrison, Warmoth, Ryder Devol, and Jackson Potter. Harrison picked up some tough yards up the middle behind the blocking of Douglas, Brannon Gadbury, Wagner, Fields, and Palmer. Warmoth scored on a sweep early in the game and Devol hit Potter for a TD pass in the 4th quarter. The Stars return home next Tuesday to play the North Montgomery Chargers. Kick off is set for 5:30 pm. The Western Boone 8th grade football team travelled to Tri-West last evening and battled the hosting Bruins to a 0-0 tie. The game was concluded at the end of regulation with no overtime played. Offensively, the Stars would squander a couple of opportunities early due to penalties but continued to adjust and eventually found a working formula. The rest of the evening, including a drive lasting 7:30 to all but end the game, the Stars were able to methodically and patiently move the ball down the field. However, finding the one big play, or avoiding a couple of near misses, prevented them from closing the deal on any drives and punching in a score. On the other side of the ball, the defense was in control the entire evening, never allowing Tri-West any true threat to score. In fact, Tri-West would spend most of the evening playing from deep in their territory. The strong effort and execution by the defense would be concluded in an exciting final few seconds where they would come close to earning a safety, or potential interception and a chance to score, as Tri-West played desperation offense from inside their own 10-yard line. As a team, the Stars once again saw an evening of outstanding effort and a willingness to battle and compete to the end from the entire group. The Stars will return home to host North Mont on Tuesday.
