The Western Boone Junior High Cross Country teams travelled to Danville Thursday afternoon to compete against the Warriors and the Chargers from North Montgomery. In the girls race it was Abigayle Humphrey with her personal best time of 13:18 finishing in second place leading the Stars, and Alisha Manning in 11th place continuing to drop her time by getting another best of 15:39. Britney Richwine had a great finish, passing her way to 14th place with a 16:15 and Bristol McCord added another season best in 18th place at 16:59. Ari Smith was up against some tough competition to finish in 4th place and only 2 seconds behind his best time ever, while Owen Young overcame a rocky start to finish in 11th place while also being only seconds behind his best ever. Nate Muir had a great start and even better finish and crossed the line in 21st place with a new PR of 13:47, with fellow 6th grader Wyatt Delp in 23rd place with a 13:49. Rex Stanley ran a great race to finish in 24th place with his new best time of 13:52. Hayden Trenary tied his PR with a 14:59 in 29th place and Jacob Nance found his way back on track after getting turned around to finish 33rd in 17:05. This was the second hot day of races this week for this young team but each and every one of them left it all on the course and continue to grind out the best times they can give. They will have a home meet Monday against Frankfort and Bethesda.
