Stars defeat Hornets 48-44 in girls basketball

The Lady Stars battled against the Rossville Lady Hornets on Tuesday night, coming away with a 48-44 victory. The Stars started the game composed, working the ball around and taking good shots. The team struggled in the second quarter, getting into early foul trouble. The Lady Stars came out at halftime with intensity, grabbing a lot of rebounds and picking up their defensive aggressiveness. Emmy Roys and Lili Jones each hit two free throws late in the game, securing the win for the Lady Stars. A lot of players stepped up and put points on the board, contributing to the great team win. Carlie Pennington led the Stars with 13 points, while Emmy Roys added 10 and Ki’erra Koch added 9. Lili Jones had 8 points and Katheryn Rutherford added 6 points. The Lady Stars are back in action at home on Thursday against Monrovia. Come out and support your Lady Stars! The JV Lady Stars travelled to Rossville to battle against the Hornets Tuesday for a defensive standoff. Both sides struggled offensively despite numerous shot attempts with Webo leading at the half 7 to 4. The scoring drought was slightly better in the second half when the Stars added another 11 points winning the game 18 to 11.
