The Stars opened up their 2022-2023 season on Saturday night and came away with two wins on the evening. The JV started the night off with a hot start leading 11-5 after the 1st quarter. A slow second quarter found the JV boys trailing by 8 at the half. The second half saw a back and forth battle as the Stars outscored the Hornets and held on for a 43-42 win. Top scorers for the Stars were Gavin Hawkins and Tristyn Faulk both pouring in 14 points. The Varsity Contest started off with both teams trading baskets and ending the first quarter tied 10-10. The Stars came alive in the 2nd quarter outscoring the Hornets 19-4 and taking a 29-14 lead into the break. The second became a very physical battle and saw the Stars finish the job and win 53-42. Performing for the Stars were Kaden Bennington with 21, Marcus Stepp with 15 pts and 5 assists, Levi LeGrange with 8, Luke Barta with 4, Blake Miller with 4 pts and 6 Rebounds and Bryce Kopriva with 1.
