Western Boone Wrestling Competes at Columbus North Invitational

On Saturday, December 10, 2022, the Webo Grapplers traveled to Columbus, Indiana, where they took home fifth place honors at the Columbus North Invitational. The Stars competed in five dual meets, winning three of them. Trevor Weakley continued his unbeaten season, going 5-0 for the day. Kameron Mikesell was also unbeaten for the day. In the first dual meet, Western Boone faced off against the Bloomington North Cougars. The Stars won six of the 11 contested matches, but came up short in the end, losing the meet 36-48. Winning wrestlers for the Stars were Isaac Moore (106), Kameron Mikesell (138), Mason Adams (145), Trevor Weakley (170), Ethan Williams (182), and Joshua Dickey (285). Next, the wrestling team was challenged by the Harrison Wildcats, a tough team from Harrison, Ohio. Kameron Mikesell, Trevor Weakley, Ethan Williams, and Joshua Dickey all managed to walk away with victories, but the Wildcats came out on top, 24-59. Mikesell showcased his durability and refusal to quit in overcoming the 10th ranked wrestler in the state of Ohio, pinning him in the second period. Congratulations Kameron on a hard-fought victory. In the third dual meet of the day, Western Boone dominated a team from Brown County that is going through a rebuilding phase. There were only five contested matches, and the Stars won all five of those by pin, four of them occurring in less than one minute each. Western Boone won the meet 78-0. Winning grapplers were Kameron Mikesell, Mason Adams, Andrew Manthey (160), Trevor Weakley, and Ethan Williams. After lunch, Webo was challenged by Guerin Catholic for the second time in a week. The outcome was similar, though, with Western Boone winning handily, 54-24. Winning wrestlers for the Stars were Isaac Moore, Kameron Mikesell, Evan Trent (152), Andrew Manthey, Trevor Weakley, and Ethan Williams. The final match of the day was against the Madison Consolidated Cubs. The Stars performed well, winning seven of the nine contested match-ups. Western Boone won the match with ease, 51-24. Winning Webo wrestlers were Noah Starks (126), Aden Conner (132), Kameron Mikesell, Mason Adams, Evan Trent, Trevor Weakley, and Joshua Dickey. On Monday, December 12, 2022, the Stars will travel to Lizton for a dual meet with conference tournament implications against the Tri-West Bruins. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm.
