Lady Stars finished 2-1 at Carroll Holiday Tournament

Game 1: The Lady Stars started off game one of the Carroll Holiday Tournament by facing the Carroll Cougars. The Stars came out focused and ready to go, playing solid defense and getting good looks at the basket on the offensive end. The Lady Stars continued to improve as the game progressed but struggled to shut down a few of Carroll's key players, going into halftime down 22- 39. The Stars continued to play hard and hustle throughout the second half, outscoring the Cougars 12-10 in the fourth quarter. In the end the Lady Stars could not stop Carroll's quick offense and outside shooting game, falling short of the Cougars by a score of 40-59. Emmy Roy finished the game with a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds, followed by Carlie Pennington who also added 13 points for the Stars. Game 2: In the second game of the tournament the Lady Stars battled the Covenant Christian Warriors, coming away with a 55-40 victory. The Stars started out strong and continued to play solid team basketball throughout the game. The Lady Stars did a great job of moving the basketball around on offense, executing plays and allowing many players to contribute points on the board for the Stars. As the second half progressed, the team continued to push the basketball and play solid defense, shutting down the Warriors' offensive game and outscoring them 31-15 in the second half of the game. A lot of players stepped up big for the Stars, contributing to the great team win. Carlie Pennington ended the game with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Emmy Roys also finished the game with double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Katheryn Rutherford added 18 points. Saige Terwiske dominated the boards, grabbing 12 rebounds for the Lady Stars. Game 3: In the final game of the tournament, the Stars matched up against the Eastern Comets, finishing the game with a 54-27 victory. The Stars started out with intensity and fierceness, motivated to get a win against the Comets after losing to them in a holiday tournament last year. The Lady Stars used that motivation to play aggressively on both ends of the court, scoring 27 points in the first half and holding Eastern to only 14 points. As the second half progressed, the Stars continued to advance their lead offensively and did a great job of running a variety of defenses to hold the Comets to only 13 points in the second half. A lot of players stepped up big time for the Stars on both ends of the court, leading to a solid team win. Emmy Roys finished with a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds, followed by Katheryn Rutherford with 14 points. Carlie Pennington added 8 points, while Lili Jones and Ila Stokes each added 6 points for the Stars. The Lady Stars finished 2-1 at the Carroll Holiday Tournament. The Stars played two great days of team basketball and many players stepped up and contributed in various ways throughout the tournament. Great job Lady Stars!
