On Saturday, January 7, 2023, the Western Boone Wrestling team traveled to Zionsville to wrestle in the Fendley Hall of Fame. The wrestlers competed well against some aggressive competition. As a team, the Stars went 2-3 for the day. Mason Adams (145), was the lone wrestler to win all five of his matches. The day started off with a dual meet between the Stars and the Noblesville Millers. Jacob Anderson (113) and Kameron Mikesell (138) each won by decision. Isaac Moore (106), Trey Fuston (132), Mason Adams, and Trevor Weakley (170) each picked up wins by pins. As a whole, the team fought hard, but came up a little short, losing 30-42. Next, Webo wrestled the Lawrence North Wildcats. Moore, Anderson, Isaiah Garland (120), Mikesell, Adams, Evan Trent (152), Weakley, and Ethan Williams (182) turned in strong performances with each winning by pin. The Stars cruised to a 54-27 victory over the Wildcats. In the third match of the day, the Fishers Tigers proved to be just a little too much for the Stars as they defeated Western Boone 28-49. Trent conquered his opponent with a 12-1 major decision. Wyatt Dickey (220), Joshua Dickey, Adams, and Weakley each dominated their opponents by pin fall. Next, the Stars took on a depleted team from Richmond. Garland, Fuston, and Williams each picked up victories by fall. Forfeit wins were awarded to Moore, Garland, Lincoln Rose (120), Mikesell, Adams, Trent, Jacob Smith (160) Weakley, Wyatt Dickey, and Joshua Dickey. Western Boone won the dual 66-9. In the final meet of the day, the Stars ran into a tough sectional opponent, the Zionsville Eagles. Kameron Mikesell, Trey Fuston, and Mason Adams were the only Webo wrestlers able to earn a victory, with Fuston and Adams both winning by pin. The final team score was 15-64. As a team, the Stars racked up the second-highest amount of pins for the day. They continue to improve, and will get the opportunity to showcase their gains this week with a dual meet against the Parke Heritage Wolves on Tuesday, January 10, and the Sagamore Conference Tournament on Saturday, January 14.
