Stars place 4th in Conference Meet; Norman takes first in the 500

The Western Boone Swim Teams competed in the last Sagamore Swim Conference Saturday at Crawfordsville High School. The Stars fought through Prelims on Thursday to make it to the final competitions where the top 8 swimmers would swim in the championship race and places 9 through 16 would swim in the consolation race, with all swimmers contributing to the team's final score. The morning started with the diving competition consisting of 11 rounds of dives. Xander Rouse dominated the board through 10 rounds and won the 2nd place ribbon overall with a score of 300.6. Joan Gearheart was the only freshman girl in her first conference competition and walked away with 6th place and a score of 207.85. The girls came out strong in the first competition of the day, the 200 Medley Relay, with Jenna Twitty, Eisley Whitely, Joan Gearheart, and Kyndal Dickerson taking 3rd place. In the 200 Free Rebecca Rustin, (2:21.82, 6th), Evie Maurath (2:22.32, 7th), and Rylee Pelley (2:30.12, 12th) all had season best times. Eisley Whitely took 7th place with a season best time (2:40.6) in the 200 IM and Claire Torp took 14th place. Joan Gearheart had a season best time (28.46) in the 50 Free and got 11th place, and Kyndal Dickerson took 13th. Jenna Twitty won 6th place (1:11.07) in the 100 Butterfly, and Jaili Torp had a new season best time of 1:33.11 in 13th place. In the 100 Free Kyndal Dickerson took 11th place (1:09.13), and Kate Higer had a new season best time of 1:12.90 in 16th place. Rylee Pelley crushed the 500 Free with a season best time in 9th place (6:38.83), and Rebecca Rustin had a new season best time of 6:43.25 in 11th place. The girls won 5th place in the 200 Free Relay with the team of Joan Gearheart, Jaili Torp, Claire Torp, and Rebecca Rustin, and in the 100 Backstroke Jenna Twitty fought for 4th place and a season best time of 1:10.45, Jaili Torp got 10th place and a season best time (1:20.15), and Adalyn Sartin got 13th place and a season best time (1:34.28). Eisley Whitely took 10th place with a new season best time of 1:24.09 in the 100 Breastroke, Janie Ransom had 15th (1:34.57), and Claire Torp got 16th (1:36.16). The team of Evie Maurath, Kyndal Dickserson, Eisley Whitely, and Jenna Twitty captured 4th place in the 400 Free Relay, finishing the evening with 233 points in 4th place overall. The boys competitions started with a 6th place win in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Jacob Norman, Jude Balke, Isaac Threlkeld, and Zach Connors. Jacob Norman fought hard in the 200 Free winning 3rd place (1:52.32), Chase Collier had a season best time of 2:00.06 (6th), and Henry Biggs gave his all for 9th place and a season best time of 2:07.54. In the 200 IM the boys took 14th (Alex Crockett, 2:33.99), 15th (Malachi Catterson, 2:34.90), and 16th (Liam Whitely, 2:35.62), all finishing with season best times. Isaac Threlkeld took 6th (23.83) in the 50 Free and Jude Balke took 8th (24.12). In the 100 Butterfly Isaac Threlkeld won 6th place with a new season best time of 57.57, Ethan Barnett won 12th with a new season best time (1:02.55), and Malachi Catterson won 13th with a new season best time (1:05.03). Zach Connors took 8th place (57.61) in the 100 Free, and Jonny Rutherford took 16th (1:02.79). Jacob Norman crushed the 500 Free and won 1st place with a new season best time of 5:05.46, Chase Collier won 7th place (5:45.06), and Henry Biggs won 10th with a new season best time of 5:55.42. The boys won 4th place in the 400 Free Relay with the team of Jude Balke, Zach Connors, Ethan Barnett, and Chase Collier. Ethan Barnett came out strong in the 100 Backstroke with a 5th place win and a season best time of 1:03.59, Artie Milliser won 13th with a new season best time (1:15.10), and Jacob Schrier took 15th (1:17.19). Jude Balke fought for 4th place (1:09.24) in the 100 Breastroke, Alex Crockett took 7th with a new season best time (1:12.57), and Liam Whitely took 11th (1:18.42). The team of Isaac Threlkeld, Ethan Barnett, Chase Collier, and Jacob Norman won 4th place in the 400 Free Relay, finishing their competitions with a score of 297 for 4th place overall. The Stars will swim against Brebeuf next Tuesday at Webo.
