8th grade Stars compete in Conference Tournament

The Stars opening round game was a rematch with the Lebanon Tigers. The Stars started slow and Lebanon controlled the pace. The Tigers took a one point lead to the locker at half, 13-12. The Tigers scored quickly to start the half and the Stars had to dig deep and finished the last 3:30 minutes with physical play and huddle. Needing to score, Reese Young hit back to back 3's and driving the lane for layup to seal the win, 31-27, Stars advanced to second round Saturday. Quinn Westerfeld led Stars with 15, Reese Young 8, Burke Cavins 6 and Owen Oakley 2. Stars await the winning of North Montgomery and Tri-West for second round game on Saturday. The Stars played the Tri-West Bruins in semi final match up. The Stars played physical against a big front court for Tri-West. The Stars took good shots, but they were not falling in the first half. During the second half the Stars forced some turnovers , hustled after loose balls, and went on at run to close the gap, but not enough to get it close it out. The Stars fell 45-34 to close the season. Quinn Westerfeld led Stars with 10, Burke Cavins 8, Owen Oakley 8, Reese Young and Alex Velazquez 3 and Nate Thompson 2.
